The Galaxy S22 Ultra has Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and the back, and both the phone and S Pen are IP68 water and dust resistant. The new (integrated) S Pen features 'AI-based co-ordinate prediction technology'. A new Quick Note feature allows you to attach or link content in a 'Pop Up' note within Samsung's apps. There's also a new 'Collaboration View' that enables syncing between a Galaxy S22 Ultra and a Samsung Android tablet, enabling dual screen use, using the S22 Ultra to change your drawing tools while creating on the tablet.
The display is the same as on last year's S21 Ultra, a 6.8", 1440p AMOLED panel running at up to 120Hz refresh rate. Sadly, the display also includes the usual ultrasonic fingerprint sensor - these are secure, but do cause problems with users without strongly defined fingerprints (like me!)
On the imaging front, the S22 Ultra has the same 108MP f/1.8 main camera as the Galaxy S21 Ultra, plus 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide and a 10MP f/2.4 (3x) and 10MP f/4.9 (10x) periscope.
The S22 Ultra will have either the new Exynos 2200 SoC or the (also pretty new) Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from Qualcomm. Both these chipsets are based on 4nm manufacturing process. The phone starts at 8GB RAM with 128GB of storage and goes up to 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
The phone has a 5000mAh battery with support for up to 45W fast charging. It comes with Android 12, with four years of updates promised.
Availability is in two weeks time, though top YouTubers like Arun Maini got advance access, see his intro below:
